I believe the socket is inside the manual shifter housing, pulling back the carpets doesn't help there, since it is enclosed on 3 sides and the top.
I was taking the torx screws out behind the little compartment and it slipped through that opening and disappeared to the right side. I don't see anywhere else it could've easily gone, given its size. I will try to find one of those flexi-magnets. I'm also going to look into removal of the shifter, though I would prefer to verify the socket's location before I get into that.
The good news is it hasn't affected the shifting- yet.
Nice piece btw, thanks. It'll look even better when it's installed in the console instead of my backseat.
