Another way, maybe... Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Legal way to get WIS/EPC ..., dmz789qqq, Wed, 18 May 2011 06:54:00 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I bought the WIS for my 2000 9-5 from Schiff European Automotive Literature. I talked to the owner (Barry?) and he said he received the diskettes directly from SAAB. So even though SAAB had no direct sales to customers, these were coming from SAAB via a channel they selected. I am confident it is authentic.
The WIS for my 2006 9-3 came from Schiff also. It doesn't have the same sense of authenticity of the 9-5 disks, label is white rather than black, no abbreviated instruction sheet, etc. But nothing about it clearly says boot-leg either.
I got my current EPC via a BitTorrent download and it loads in Swedish, the dead give-away it is a bootleg copy. My first EPC came from a seller in the UK via an eBay sale, and I think the standard transalantic postage cost more than the insanely low price of the disk. But it loaded correctly, so it may have been authentic too.
