Do replace shocks / struts (orginal?). Consider spacers (lifts) as alternative to new springs. Some on this board have put in brand new springs and still had ride heights that were too low. My recent experience replacing my struts and shocks on 1999 lpt was that only the right rear had any gas pressure at all, while all four still had fluid. They were all Sachs, and I suspect original to the car. Slight L/R difference in rear ride height disappeared with new rear shocks of equyal pressure. Ride and handling noticeably improved.
