Slight knocking 91 octane in mountians

Was in the Black Hills SD with 91 octane, last fill was Conoco 91. With long uphill grades, moderate speed [50mpg?], probably 5th gear [autobox], 2000 RPM there was slight knocking. Knocking occurring with boost gauge at the transition from vacuum to boost. Altitude around 5000 feet.

Geared down. Found 93 octane V-power later on that day.

Plugs are low miles 7ES plugs at .043", MAF cleaned a few months ago, large bottle of Techron Concentrate before the trip. Temperature was 73 degrees and low humidity.

Not sure what to make of this. Was the boost indication actually showing boost from 5000 feet to sea level? The long uphill grades allowed temperatures to reach steady state. Perhaps this low boost situation does not contribute much enrichment.

94 Aero Wagon 80K, no mods, new 5W40 Mobil 1, diesel truck engine oil in sump and PureOne oil filter, new high cap paper intake filter recent.

[MPGs were very good. 8 days of driving, fantastic roads and scenery. Two vehicles, 3 couples.]

Almost forgot. Stayed in a Ranch B&B, 8 miles of dirt road. The house was a Sear's kit house in vintage condition. Anyways, the roads were wet and muddy. About to leave and Karen says, "why are your rear wheels up inside the wheel wells?" There was so much mud spray that the the vehicle was down on its bump stops from the weight. So I had fun in Wall SD at the car wash getting that all cleaned off. No mud in the Saab, but I was not a pretty sight when finished. And the GPS also tried to take us down an old wagon path!
