Scratches on the oil pressure valve

Good morning all,
I have been slowly working on the new to me 02 Linear with top end ticking noise. Yesterday I removed oil pressure valve which came out pretty easy. Cleaned it and reinstalled. There wasnât much dirt or sludge, but I noticed few scratches on the valve. It looks similar to what Anders posted in his album, but not as deep. It says there âfrom sprocket debrisâ. Does that mean sprockets from balance chain are failing? I failed to check a balance chain when oil pan was off but planning to remove the chain if engine shows any promises to live for a while. Or should I remove a chain asap? My next step is oil pressure test and compression test as well. Considering to do Amsoil engine flush, but little hesitant about it.
Here is what I have done so far:
I dropped the oil pan and oil pick up screen was 95% blocked! Cleaned, reinstalled with new seal for the tube. Installed PCV #6 update. Noise is still there, not as loud. Still no oil light while idling or driving around a block (knock on wood). Fixed ATF leak by tightening banjo bolts at the radiator.
Thanks,
Victor
