It's called a jalousie or some such. There is a tiny 10 Torx screw in the front of the shift handle. That seperates the halves of the handle/knob. Then it gets worse. You have to be very careful with the wires going to the sport button. There is a tiny clip that holds the rod that comes up from the shift housing steps. Once you remove this clip you can remove the shift lever/ handle /knob enough to replace the jalousie if your car has the easy connections. If it has the soldered connections it gets a bit more difficult.
