John:
I just replaced mine yesterday. It will depend on how limber you are and how handy with tools, but it's not too hard. The two valves are a little inaccessable for large hands, but they can be changed. Send me a PM and I'll give you a link to the pictures I took. Just joined here and have not figured out posting pics. You'll need a 3/8 or 1/4 drive ratchet with a 3" or 6" extention and a 10mm socket. The bolts face down, so you have to get on them from the bottom - snake an assembled ratchet under hoses and up. It takes two hands and you can only move a click at a time, but once loose, they will come out by hand. I leaned over the pax fender for the valve near the firewall. The other one was easiest when the battery and the batt tray were removed. Again, it's a space issue. With the bolts out, you can handle them and release the plastic clamp that holds them - squeeze top and bottom and wiggle free. The V6 is tougher to do than the 4-Cyl. B Millar had a thread on the process and I basically followed it. Mine were on the car since 2000 and had 113K miles on them - they were totally shot and my pump ate the filter like others have had happen. If I can't figre a way to rig a filter and balance the impeller, I'll order a new one on line. My order for valves and gaskets took about 3 weeks. They were difficult to get off the hose, but finally they came loose; that was the hard part and took a lot of wasted time since they were stuck. It took a screwdriver the "pry" them away from the hose since they were on so long. When I installed the new ones, I greased the mating surface and O-ring with silicone grease (dielectric actually). [Just cleaned and rebuilt my NSS today.] Will mess with the pump over the next few days and try to get it going or I'll buy one. The discounted price is not too bad. Valves set me back $61+ each and there was shipping too. Still cheaper then my local dealer. I should have disabled my pump when I got the code, but too late now. The SAI is only for emissions and does NOT affect performance. It is to get the cat converter hotter faster and if the O2 sensor voltage does not go below a certain voltage in start-up, then you get a code set (P0410). I VA, I have until Nov 12 to figure this out when I have to do emissions test again. You can't pass if you have codes set.
Good luck.
