DIY alternator replacement - finished

2002 9-5 Arc 6cyl, I just replaced the alternator with a rebuilt Bosch from eeuroparts.com and I would not recommend doing this project to my worst enemy! There are several good DIY write-ups but none seemed to apply to mine perfectly. It took forever, was very difficult, and my hands and arms are cut to shreds!
Anyhow, the old alternator had the two usual wire connections, but it also had a 'mystery clip' attached to the outside of the housing that had some very loose cloth wrapping. At first I thought this was another wire, but if it is, I can't see where the rest of the wire goes to or comes from. Here is a picture of the clip and the wrapping.

Also, the new alternator has an exhaust-type port that the original did not. Am I supposed to find a Saab part that connects this to something? Thanks! -JerryC
