last post. I read some posts here that people felt they lacked some braking performace and to me it makes sense. They may have less dust but there always has to be a tradeoff. Less dust = harder pad = wear less = bite the rotor less = loss in braking performance.

Another member used the analogy of an eraser. Soft erasers wear down faster but definitely do a better job at erasing than some harder ones.

I don't have a 9-5, I have a Viggen and they have the same or very similar brake set ups. I have STILL the original pads and rotors from 2001 and though, sure they do create dust (which, I'm pretty ok with, meh) and wear down the rotors, my car stops AMAZINGLY. I wouldn't trade for cosmetic issues. I think it's a wise idea to turn the rotors or replace them all together when doing a brake job and for the cost of rotors, I'd just go for it.

Besides, I have slotted rotors and they can't (or at least isn't recommended) be turned. So, I think I'll stick with the pads I have now, which are made by ATE (as seen in the picture of my last post). I don't know if these are the same ones that came from the factory, but I presume they are the softer ones.

I'm sure some of you have had great experiences with Akebonos, but maybe (and forget for a moment the dust; I know lots of you hate it) you never used the old pads. I personally can't speak on behalf of Akebonos as I've never tried them but being a performance-oriented driver I realllly do not want to compromise my braking performace.

Thanks for sharing any further input.

Bender.
