I put the spacer I built under the spring support (Saab #4689519) and on top of the rubber boot, which goes on top of the spring. The spacer had the same OD as the spring support, and the id of one side was big enough to fit on the spring support where the boot normally goes; the other side was cut with a projection on the ID to hold the boot/spring the same way the sprig support does. Not all that hard, really, just a big hunk of metal compared to the rear spacer.
My own opinion is that my Saab, at least, came from the factory too low, and that many others probably did as well. With modern steel alloys and finishes spring sag should be a thing of the past, or at the very least measured in fractions of an inch, not inches. Mine was over 1 1/4" too low! I never did get a chance to compare my springs with new stockers, but they looked in great shape.
Before I took my struts apart I *wanted* to put new ones in, but I just couldn't justify it - the old ones felt and looked perfect. But both bump stops were junk, indicting that I'd been regularly using the full suspension travel. By adding 30mm of travel, though, I added a significant amount of load capacity and I haven't noticed any bottoming out since. Sure, stiffer shocks might have also solved the problem, but now that the stock shocks/springs are working over their spec range there doesn't seem to be any problem.
As far as the spoiler - unfortunately, mine broke off before I did all this, and I'm too cheap to buy/paint a new one. Anyone got a used, silver/grey Aero front spoiler they want to get rid of?
