Thanks to all who contibuted to this thread on replacing the CPS. Just did this job today - about 1.5 hours because I'm not fast and needed to go my local 'everything' store for a 3/8" to 1/4" extension.
I took out the bypass pipe and the battery, but if I do it again I will only take out the battery - it obsures access to the clip that holds the CPS lead to the coolant pipe passing it around the left (driver's) side of the engine, and it's not bad to de-power anyway. Starting with a dead-cold engine is must!
I have large hands, so I used light from above, but accessed from below with the front up on jackstands (if you use only one jack stand, jack right front corner). I used a 3/8" ratchet with T30 driver, and adjusted length with extensions: 3.0" from driver tip to ratchet face and 3.5" from T30 tip to ratchet back (that's the more critical dimension). With 3.5" overall I think differences in exhaust fitments and alignment over the model years won't matter. Unless you have the car on a lift, this is a job faster for lefties! I found that if I used my left hand, everything worked - I could see the Torx screw and move the wrench too. I bought some hex M6 bolts, but I reused the original once I figured out how I could get room to do all of this. It took me nearly as long to fish the lead into place and position the connector as it did to replace the sensor. For most DIYers I'd say it's a 1 to 2 hour job - shorter if you read all of the posts here first. I can believe the 30 minute time for a really mechanical person who knows what they're going to do and not do - but I did things like checking battery electrolyte level too.
As usual, I would have been pretty lost without all of your advice here - Thanks !
