I took mine out when I polished the headlight lenses. The catch is further back than you might think. You'll use a flat tip screwdriver. The retainer pushes out toward the outside of the fender. The passenger's side can be accessed without moving the intake duct. The driver's side can be seen pretty easily once you remove the battery cover. Look into the toward the back of the lamp housing. The plastic tab or tongue that's attached to the lamp housing is light gray in color, and the U-shaped retainer in the bodywork is black. Once you do the driver's side one, you'll know what to look for on the passenger's side.
