I recently did the belt, pulleys and entire tensioner per BMillars? excellent writeup. This at 123K. My belt and one pulley were last
changed at 60K. I did not notice any play in my tensioner pulley after
taking the tensioner out.
I can't say I notice any sound coming from the tensioner. I did have one of the aluminum AC lines rattling against the body that I put a rubber piece on.
I would just take the tension off the tensioner and wiggle the pulley on it..if any play replace it.. New one comes with pulley. Its easy to replace as there is one 8mm allen bolt holding it on..only thing is the allen key will hit the side of the frame before you can fully unscrew the bolt..I had to cut a cheapo allen key and put it on a wrench to get the bolt fully out. Despite that I liked the design of the tensioner; one
bar to relieve tension, take the locking key out to put tension back on.
Center pulley was a pain but not as scary as stories made it out to be.
Big long belt was scary also but the tip to wrap it around the AC last worked great... Big thanks to SaabNet.
