Water Pump Update - It was the block adapter O-ring

I figure I owe HEPU a bit of an apology. I posted on leaking water pump, and there was a leak - but it was the O-ring on the adapter pipe into the block. I replaced the original pump at 169K miles, and it was leak-free for ca. 10.5K miles. Upon disassembly the water pump now has more play in the bearing than it should, but the shaft seal was not leaking. The block O-ring showed some signs that I must have pinched it slightly as I installed it, and by ten thousand miles it hardened up too much to keep a seal.
I will install the new Graf unit when it gets here (today), since I want to avoid opening this up again if I can help it. I searched out Viton(R) O-rings to use on the adapter pipe. They are rated to 204degr C (400degr F). This would be great, but I could not find an exact fit, and had to sand the outer surface of a slightly too-large O-ring to make it fit (even with silicone lube).
My guess is that the HEPU pump would have gone about double the time that I had it in my car. Just a guess, and no two cars quite alike.
