It worries me when the shop says, there are no codes pointing towards CKP sensor. That tells me they are not completely on top of how the sensor work in a Saab and how it fails. It very rarely leaves a code when they go bad unless you really try to induce a code with cranking over and then check for fault codes before the ignition key is turned off again.
As other mention, if a CKP sensor is the suspect, you measure the resistance over pin 1-2 towards the sensor when engine is piping hot and if a reading of 1100-1200 Ohm or much more, like open circuit is noticed, the sensor is a likely culprit.
Old ignition cassettes and worn/wrong spark plugs could set off misfire codes.
So you might have several problems going on and one repair alone will not cure everything.
