A glass specialist, and I don't mean the guy at the auto glass shop, could tell you the crack origin and direction of growth of the crack. It is a matter of looking into the crack with light and 10X or better magnification to detect the wave pattern inside the crack. There are waves inside glass cracks, hard to see but they are there. The direction of crack growth is into the concave side of the wave and out of the convex side. The point of this exercise would be to determine the origin of the crack. If it on the face of the window, the crack was caused by impact damage, and replacement is between you and your insurance company. If it started from the edge, it is a flaw in the glass created either during manufacture or installation of the window and Saab and St. Gobain should be responsible for replacing your window.
