You broke the jalousie Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Sun, 5 Feb 2012 05:46:03 In Reply to: Replacing Shifter Trim on '05 9-5, Roger (NAWC), Sun, 5 Feb 2012 05:32:18 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
A fiddley PITA job to replace. The worst part is you need to remove the shifter knob which is tough to do with the automatic. There is a hidden T10 torx screw located between the shifter release lever and the knob.
I finally gave up and snipped the new jalousie on the passenger side next to the trunion to slip it around the shifter lever. A better short cut is to use a new single edge razor blade and mallet to split the jalousie in the center of the passenger side trunion. The best method is to do it the factory spec'd way by removing the shifter knob.
I found instructins on the "fixmysaab" web site. You may as well replace all the light bulbs while you are in the console as all of the same trim pieces need to be removed to access them, and these small lamps in your wife's car are 7 years old.
