I discovered the WIS for 2010 and 2011 9-5 Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() |
I always try to buy my WIS disks from legitimate sources. I even queried my oldest son, an Intellectual Property Attorney, regarding the legal status of purchasing a Saab produced WIS disc for personal use that Saab never intended to be sold to the public in the US. His response was that without a search to discover case law regarding such a purchase it would not be automatically considered a breach of Copyright Laws. This is different than downloading from a Torrent site, or buying obvious bootleg disks burned by an anonymous internet seller.
I purchased a new WIS from a source that I believe to be legitimate for future D-I-Y service on my recently acquired 2008 Aero. My old 9-5 WIS covered model years up to 2000. This source deals only in automotive literature. It is in their business interest to carry as broad of selection as possible, but dealing in bootleg documents could cause their business to be shut-down due to Copyright violations if ever discovered. The cost of burning a bootleg disk is nearly zero, yet this company does not currently offer any Saab EPC disks for sale (they previously did). This is a long way from a provenance supported by invoices and shipping docuemnts but paints a fairly convincing argument based on circumstantial evidence that they only deal in the real thing obtained from Saab.
The 2011-1 Edition of Saab's WIS that I received this week contains the full range of the OG 9-5 (including my required 2008 model year data ), the 2003 forward 9-3 family, AND the 2010 and 2011 model years of the NG 9-5!
The downside is that English Language users such as myself only have access to International or Great Britain English even though all service data is included for US Market cars. This is OK with me, I can easily work around a few extra vowels and I know what a spanner is.
I have included an e-mail address for myself with this posting and interested D-I-Y owners of NG 9-5 cars can contact me there for the name and URL of this literature source.
