Nice discussion, but in all of my 9-5s, this is what was done to the trunk.
1) Remove Spare
2) Take out the jack, throw it away.
3) Take out the Lug Wrench, throw it away. I think I have bent 3 of these trying to use them
4) Take out the foam, throw it away.
5) Purchase a small floor jack (about $15 or so), fit this in the compartment where the foam was in and it's lift handle
6) Purchase new or used 1/2" breaker bar with the correct socket for the lug nuts, about about 2 ft I think (longer ones)
7) If you have the gloves, keep them, else get a pair and put them in.
8) Refit the Spare, etc.
9) Try and fit a first aid kit in there somewhere also.
Now, if you have to change a tire on the road you are ready. Just can't stand the scissor jacks, etc.
The jack puts a little bit more weight in the back, but ok with the trade off.....
Anyone else some something like this?
