My 99 has had the "Service Theft Alarm" at start-up for over 3 years, and I have been ignoring this as not worth the time/$ to get this deprogrammed.
But I am now getting the random alarm going off, that cannot be silenced by unlocking. I understand this to be from failure of components inside the alarm module.
My question is this: if the alarm unit back-up battery is dad, doesn't this mean it is getting its power from the car? Isn't it sufficient to simply disconnect the power cable to it, without having to remove it? It looks like I should be able to it to disconnect it by removing the turn signal, rather than having to go under the car.
