Hi All,
While changing out my cabin air filter, I decided to have another go at my failed recirc motor with that horrible 6mm screw at the end of the tube. I found a Craftsman "Evolv" nut driver that looked like it just might do the trick, and it did... with a little bit of coaxing from Mr. Ball-Peen. (Don't follow my example!!). Anyway, I eventually got the motor unit out!
The problem is twofold. First off, the plastic arm is broken. Easily fixed, ~$20, part no. 4869426. But the motor is also not spinning when tested... I opened it up, gears were fine, but I found a loose resistor, plugged it back in, and retested it. ...aaaand that's how I got the smoke out of the box. (They say once the smoke comes out, you can't put it back in). So if the motor wasn't fully dead before, it could probably be dead now. The motor alone costs about as much as the entire unit, so I'm wondering does anybody know how to replace this motor on the cheap?!??!
Thanks!
Chris
