Retraction on Michelin Primacy's

SO here is the story.
The car (2000 lpt wagon with 185000mls)had the old Michelin Energy MXV4's on it and tracked like a train when I got it. Superb.
Replaced them with the Michelin Primacy's and the car was SUPER quiet and although a little mushy I liked the tire a LOT, particularly seeing they lasted incredibly well through rear suspension issues.
There was a tracking issue on the freeway that alignment guys said was due to the alignment. (It would wander over the linear corrugations on our Calif freeways.)
So until I got the suspension fixed and so as not to waste the $$ on expensive tires on a bad tire-eating suspension, I put crappy used tires on. Could not WAIT to get the Primacy's on again as you could imagine.
So now I have the Primacy's on again with a new suspension.
Lo and behold, the thing is all over the freeway like a teenager on the phone. All other aspects like grip, quiet, ride etc are just terrific, although not a "handling tire", but I am a little disappointed and am likely to swap them out just to get away from the wandering.
So, my question is after looking through many posts here, what is a quiet, long-lasting tire that compares well with the Primacy and that grips/tracks well?
Disc Tire push the Yoko's, while some on here say the Continentals.
Anyone have a direct comparison? Would appreciate it very much.
