Mike: The answer to your question is probably that even though you might tune your Linear to a lower level than what Saab can do with the Aero, the factis that they are not responsible and doing your modification, you are. It is not reasonable to expect them as the manufacturer and US sales company to warranty the work of an independent tuner,whether it be Nordic, Hirsch, Abbott, or anyone else. The same goes for drive train issues. If you read the warranty as it is actually written you will not get warranty coverage on a premature failure on a drive line component if you modify the ECU software in your car,regardless of how conservative those modifications might be.
Like it or not, the Saab warranty is only on their components as delivered to you, and their policy is no diferent from that of any other manufacturer.
On the 170-200 HP modification box that Saab sells for Model Year 2000 cars, they have full control over exactly what the modifications do, and that unit is covered by a full Saab warranty.
If you use an aftermarket device, you pays your money and you takes your chances.
