I have found that any DIY job that i've done if I don't give myself more than enough time, or if I loose my patience with the project, I make mistakes, and break stuff. I love working on my car and have done some really extensive repairs myself. I love to learn. But make sure that if things don't go right, or if it takes you longer than necessary, that you're not stuck. I've always had a backup vehicle. (motorcycle or car) and I've always made sure that where I was doing the work, I could leave the car (when I was living at a condo, I would drive it to my parents and do the work in their garage)
Oh and a few cans of liquid wrench/WD40/ lithium grease/ etc... I have found that spraying bolts and nuts a week beforehand, and letting it sit all week makes the job 100000000000000000000000000x's easier, along with a couple of breaker bars of different lengths, or wrenches of different lengths. especially if you're doing suspension I would take the wheels off, and spray every bolt down you can find!
