For the first time in a year I have not ACC codes!!!! Yeah.
Started with no compressor ground on the relay and a code 22 which baffled me and my indie for a long time. Finally the Tech II said something about the pressure sensor on the condenser.....I then bought and OP COM and find the code was the same and it was bad connection or short. I took the Pass side headlight out and sure enough the wires were torn out.....we redid the motor and some other work....maybe that is how it happened. Soldered the wires into the weather pack connector and the code was gone and the compressor worked again.
Air was not very cold and I was getting a code 13. I next took the glove box out and check the stepper motors on the pass side......one of the arms was disconnected. Still had code 13, but the air was colder on the passenger side and sort of the driver side.
I dug into the driver side next.
NOTE: Last time I was in here I found the arm in the vent duct in 2 pieces. I glued it back together with fast setting epoxy and then wrapped glass fibers around the perimeter of the arm and set it with fast drying epoxy. I cleaned up the grooves and center bore. Alternative would be to buy an aluminum one. I think this repair will hold, but if not aluminum is next.
The driver side is a bear to get into. I used Swedecar's mirror trick with a couple of visor mirrors from harbor freight.....that worked well......but doing things backwards is hard.
I took the stepper motor out and the shaft seemed to be OK. I installed my repaired arm and moved the flap around.....everything felt great. I put the stepper back in and it worked well......no codes at all.....nice to see that big"O" in the ACC when calibrating!!!
I will pass on a few tips I learned on this side in the next post
