I have always liked black cars, but since the era of clear-coat paint sealers, it has become an impossible color. Before my '02 Aero, I had a raven black Audi TT quattro. It was stunningly beautiful. I carefully handwashed the car using a high quality horsehair brush, wiped the surfaces with clean 100% cotton towels, used the Zymol formulated for black paint (at least once per month) and parked the car in a garage both at work and home. It looked beautiful unless the sunlight caught it at the right (wrong?) angle - then it was total surface scratches into the clear coat! My Aero is silver, my Montero Limited is silver, my former Prelude S was silver, etc., ... looks beautiful when clean - still looks good when dirty.
Best,
eric
PS - The day I picked up my Aero it was sitting next to a Black Aero and I nearly changed my mind....
