No it's not you. Saabs are just a collection of parts like any other car. They all have their "issues". The key is to know the typical issues and replace the parts before they check out or hope that if we do wait too long the collateral damage won't be excessive.
BMW e36's have radiators that fail at 75 - 125k. When they do, they can take out the engine - ouch! There's a cottage industry of aluminum replacement radiators. Saab 9-5s have the DIC, SID, and heater box faults. VWs with the early 1.8 Turbo have worse sludge issues than our Saabs. Volvo V70, S70 & XC90s from '01 - '04 were known to have transmission issues that often resulted in replacement.
Look at one of the posts below about some of the domestic brand issues. By comparison, Saabs are brilliant! It's the quest for low price by the consumer that drives this. GM is notorious for promising great new cars and then issuing cheapened versions only to fix them just before phasing them out. Look at the Corvair, Vega, Citation, Fiero, and Allante. All had serious issues during their first few years of production but then were fixed just before production ceased.
We make our choices and live with them.
