Using Duct Tape was recommended by others. I used a small strip of Gorilla Tape when I needed to remove the radio screw plugs on my '08 Aero. Two of the plugs removed completely still attached to the tape. The other two plugs withdrew a 1/4-inch from the radio face making them easy to grasp with my fingers.
The plugs just slide into the recesses. No force fit or snap fit.
