It depends on your financial situation. Posted by B Millar [Email] ![]() ![]() ![]() In Reply to: Turbo6 XWD, Sarunas., Tue, 2 Oct 2012 07:31:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Back in June I had a 2011 9-5 Aero on the hook and opted out of it. A loaded Aero or Turbo6 XWD is a (beautifully) complicated piece of machinery. There are hundreds of sensors, computers, components, etc. that can malfunction... and there's no one out there who knows how to fix any of it! Sure, there are plenty of GM parts that cross-reference, but getting someone willing to explore those parts, install them, and warrant them will be next to impossible. Just keep in mind that the car has the potential of turning into a $25,000 paperweight. But that's why they're marked down almost 50%. I couldn't comfortably rely on a 2011 9-5 Aero as my only car.
My financial situation has changed since June in that I now have a house ball-and-chained around my ankle, but had it not I would still consider a 2.0T FWD 9-5. There's way less to go wrong, and there's actually room to move and work under the hood. I've heard enough people have rear differential failures at +/- 30k miles on XWD's to scare me away from that option, and the 2.0T powertrain lives on in the Buick Regal, so maybe if you find a friendly Buick tech he can help you out.
