Sounds like the heater bypass valve. When you select full A/C cold this vacuum actuated valve stops hot water from going into the heater. A seal inside the valve starts leaking eventually and coolant can be found in the center of the firewall dripping onto the exhaust system.
Valve is pretty cheap $17.00 for an off brand and $95.00 for OEM.
But it is tough to get in there to change. A cable actuated hose clamp tool is required.
Do a search here.....lot of discussion. This is a very common problem and valves leak after 60K of 100k.......
Slim shot it is something else, but this is a recurring problem.
