It's really amazing how long some of these exhaust systems are lasting even with the molting / onion peeling, but after 10+ years, had to replace some. I use the OBX Stainless Steel system. It hink they are made in China, and they do come brushed stainless steel that is "ok". Have had one on an '01 Aero for about 2 years and is showing some sign of wearing (very slight rusting), but should clearly last for the next 10 years. Just put another set on a '99 lpt wagon (with just a bit of alteration in the heat shield).
The other thing is to put high temp paint over the non-stainless parts (like the new intermediate pipes). After two years absolutely not sign of wear over two years.
Another thing that I have been seeing is the heat shield nuts (cap nuts) are rusting though the shield and the shield is resting on the buffler. Need to get some fender washers form the local hardware store. Remove the nuts and then put them back with the washers.
