Well I may not end up checking the head bolts as I tried to get the valve cover off but it almost feels like some sort of adhesive was used, I put a block of wood against it and pounded it pretty hard and tried prying it off but gently - all to no avail.
Just contrasting this to my 1999 where the valve cover came off very readily.On the plus side changing the serp belt with removal and regreasing of 3 pullies went smoothly.
