Can the ignition switch be cleaned? Posted by MI-Roger [Email] (#882) [Profile/Gallery] (more from MI-Roger) on Tue, 13 Nov 2012 18:08:02 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
I have noticed that once a week or so the ignition switch in my '08 Aero does not shut off completely when turning off the car. The switch goes to OFF, the key comes out, yet the radio stays on or lights stay on or I get the "key in ignition" chimes when opening the door even though the key is fully in my hand.
I quickly learned to reinsert the key, turn switch to ON, turn switch to OFF, then remove the key a second time and the problem stops.
Before I buy a new ignition switch, can these be cleaned? I bought the car used but there is no evidence of a sugary beverage spill around the ignition switch.
Thanks,
