Check out my gallery for pictures for opening and cleaning the switch. I "rebuilt" mine in 2011. It has only failed to start twice after I did that In 2011 and and once since the weather got colder this month. [I used a paperclip to bypass it.] I've been thinking of putting a SPDT switch (Radio Shack?) on the wires to handle the times when it does not work right. Before I rebuilt it, I used to drop a 3/4 inch dowel on it and it would start. I think it has something to do with the drying grease and the springs for the slider contacts. Also, the sliders begin to lose their plating due to dirt (add more dirt too) and friction and may hang up on the raised plastic bridges.
