Alarm is going off because the batteries in the siren have died. Since this siren is part of the anti-theft system it is possible the remotes are not working due to the anti-theft system being in an alarm condition.
The electronics in these cars do not like a dead or weak main battery.
Is your key cylinder popping up fully when removing the key? I ask only becuase mine is faulty and until the new one arrives and is installed my remotes do not work either. The car thinks the key has been left in the cylinder and strange things are associated with this.
