I see very few problems with Volvo's from ~99-01 and up since they moved the battery to the trunk in most models ala BMW compared to when they had them in the engine compartment in 90s and older.
You would think that the long battery cables would eat up all juice before it reach the starter but they are doing great with at least 5-7 + years before needing to be replaced.
And the battery cables are not any thicker than the ones melting up on the 9-5 model.
Don't know how big of an undertaking it would be to convert a regular car and if it is more to the story than running just two cables back and forth.
