I figured it out. There's a pin with a little circlip and small anti-rattle clip keeping the ball on the end of the cable from releasing. Anyway, I have everything back together, but the selector won't release from park with the ignition/engine on. It won't make that familiar click in selector housing when you depress the brake that enables release of the park lock and movement of the selector. I can release it manually by pressing down the little button on the left next to the selector/gear shift. Once out of park the trans shifts as designed with the dash lights corresponding to the gear selected, etc. However, when I put back in park it remains locked despite pressing the brake pedal as usual. This has been a bear of a job and I can't understand why Saab did not make a simple replacement for the failed bushing on the trans end of the cable. Any help from you Saab gurus out there is appreciated.
