test that battery! As Swedecar says make sure the battery is good. If it were me I would disconnect both cables and put a good battery charger on it overnight. Use a computer controlled one which most are today. Then check the voltage and do a load test on it. Either use the old fashioned load tester [$22.95] or the new digital type like the HARBOR FREIGHT Digital Automotive Battery Analyzer
Item #66892 $79.95 I have one of these and love it. It tells you the cranking amps leftin your battery. Batteries are constantly loosing their power, so you want to know what is left in the old battery. this is how you find out.
My point is to be ABSOLUTELY sure that the battery is good before you start changing parts.
I had a bad battery cable once on my 2001 so I know this can be a cause....but it is easily tested. they corrode on the inside.
