I see no problem in using this cargo box on your car. I personnaly use one similar on my car. You will need transverse bars to fix the box on your roof.
The box will require to be pushed towards the front of the car to avoid interference with the open hatch.
See link below (same box, used on a Legacy).
Be ready to consume some more fuel and hear some wind noise. And don't forget it while entering a low clearance garage!
This box is wide (full width of the roof). Do you require this volume? A half width box is also available (less heavy, easier to store etc.).
