'00 Aero left me stranded today. I was 1 mile from home so not devastating, but I failed to diagnose it and that was a bit disheartening!
Anyway, Aero, 150k, CPS and Fuel pump replaced in the past 3 months for other reasons. NSS was replaced about 25k ago. Fuel pump was an Advance auto special, Bosch box, Walbro stamp, insert only.
The symptom is "crank no start" but I did a little digging and I can narrow that down to "Turn key and the fuel pump does not spin".
1 - I'm ruling out the CPS, I believe that the fuel pump will pressurize even if the CPS is bad. am I correct?
2 - I'm ruling out the fuel pump relay. I swapped the fuel pump relay with others in the relay panel, no change. Valid test?
3 - I'm ruling out the NSS, Again I think the pump will pressurize even if the NSS is bad ... is that correct?
4 - Checked fuel pump fuse, its fine.
this sort of leaves the fuel pump, but I'd like to confirm that before I replace it again. *edit* the current fuel pump has only 7k on it, and is 9 months old.
What am I missing? Are my assumptions correct? whats the best next step to diagnose this one?
TIA
oh one more data point, I did scope this pump a month ago, looks a little wavy ...
