Cabin Filter done Posted by pme [Email] (#1496) [Profile/Gallery] (more from pme) on Mon, 8 Apr 2013 06:38:32 Members do not see ads below this line. - Help Keep This Site Online - Signup |
Swapped out the cabin filter over the weekend, and fixed the wonky latch on my glove box while I was at it!
Couldn't get the drain hoses to separate to blow the drain lines out the way the WIS prescribes and didn't want to risk snapping a piece of brittle plastic, I while I had everything open, I blew compressed air up from the outlets at the bottom of the car and used the shop vac to vacuum out the slot where the filter goes. I heard the compressed air loud and clear, so I think I got both lines clear.
I will admit I am sore in a few places from having my large body at some unusual angles while doing this, but it was fun, and while it didn't seem like too much stuff came out, it does seem that the air flow is more even on both sides of the car from the center vents. I used to think the passenger side was stronger than the driver's, but now they feel about equal!
Unfortunately discovered some green flourescent dye on the top of the old filter, so am assuming there is an A/C leak in there somewhere -- hopefully an O-ring. I will be having my Indy investigate that later this week while its in for an oil change.
And, I estimate that the car will turn 195K later next week.
