That is, looked beyond the pale, 36 years after Saab #1 and relegated the 9-5 to "second car" status. But not the BMW. I've driven a few of them and found that the rear drive versions are really nice, but their AWD versions feel dead. Per the (moron) BMW sales person, "When the front wheels are driven, it's impossible to build in any kind of steering feel." And the 535xi don't seem very lively. You might look at the Acura TSX wagon. Also I read that Volvo has revisited their "no more wagons in the USA" decision and decided that the V60 will be allowed to come to America.
And FWIW I moved down the food chain and selected a Ford CMax.
