Everything comes with the kit that you will need. I think the net is typical Saab - very safe. It is a reinforced nylon type material - flexible yet damned strong. I recently installed a generic truck tailgate net across the back of my Cherokee to keep light stuff in place - the Saab net is ten times as strong. The upper bar is, I guess, 3/8 inch steel, probably with forged ends for all I know. It is one tough net. As long as you don't leave a pile of loose carving knives on top of the cargo shelf, it should stop just about anything in a crash. It is certainly far safer than having no net at all.
