So the "ball & socket" is on the transmission or under the shift lever? The whole thing feels very sloppy and loose. Shifting either way between reverse and drive feels like it's not sure where the detents are. When I move the lever as far as I think it should go, it either stops in Neutral, or hasn't moved at all, so I need to move it more.
The LED indicators in the MIU seem to recognize when it has found the right gear, NOT the position of the lever in the console...
I'm not sure if I'm describing it well... Maybe this will help: it feels like an american car's shifter: vague, loose, and lucky to find the right gear! :-)
And thanks for the words on the locks. I seem to recall that when new, the cars could unlock all on the console button or key out, but once the change was made in Tech2, it either can't be reversed, or you need a now obsolete software version in the Tech2.
