Fuel Mileage is horrible Posted by MI-Roger [Email] ![]() ![]() In Reply to: 9-5 to 9-7x ???, inca99 ![]() |
Where I previously worked a number of the Managers received the Chevy/GMC/Olds/Buick versions of this vehicle as company cars. Their constant complaint was the horrible gas mileage, even when equipped with the L6 engine. What makes their complaints interesting (or whining) is that they only had to pay for gas pumped into the tank on Friday thru Monday! Apparently the 17MPG real world highway mileage for these beasts was not enough to last over the weekend and they had to dip into their own wallets for the fuel one day/week. I understand the V8 was even thirstier.
I wouldn't discount the L6 engine and would search for performance tunes (even turbo kits!) for this engine. Although it may be easier to find a tune for the V8 which could improve mileage than for the L6.
