Nice write up! I am piggy-backing my experience of doing the same thing one day behind you - plus I was in replacing AC condenser and AC compressor.

I experienced nearly all of what you described. What is the "real" way to do the top radiator spring mounts? I also had to really work to line up the ATF cooler lines for the self-tapping screw into the fan shroud. I took the tip from another post on installing the lower rad hose onto the radiator before putting rdiator in place. Radiator had no confirmed leak, but I have replaced all hoses, water pump (2x), coolant cap, and McKay hoses in place of bypass valve - still had persistent very slow coolant loss AND car is '99 with 201K miles. From board experience, it was a good preventative step if nothing else.

I did the radiator at same time as AC compressor, condenser and receiver-drier. Condenser and low pressure Schraeder valve were the leaky componets, but at 201K, I figured compressor clutch was possible failure item. I used an e-Euro Behr compressor. The condenser was properly curved, but the lower mounting ears for some reason were not, and I didn't notice until it was painfully in place and they wouldn't quite move upward into their notches (wish I had a lift!). I had intended to replace the expansion valve too, since it has made noise ever since we have owned the car, but I ran out of time. System held vacuum overnight, and I refilled this a.m. just in time for my daughter to drive off to class.

And that's how I spent my Memorial Day . . .
