that is a nice how to, but there is no reason to take out the whole harness. Just add say 12" of wiring at the break in the wires. I used the proper color coded wires rather than black.
take out the trunk liner and unclip the harness so you have some slack to work. I don't have to bring the whole harness to my workbench just to splice in some extra wire.
Just my opinion, and I have done this repair on a couple of 95s and it has lasted a long time.
I also put LED bulbs in my licensed plate lighting. no heat and no burning out.
