the Motorola has a black and yellow twisted pair or wires for the microphone that is sort of separate from the main harness.
I would use the motorla microphone. I tried the installed one and there are connections for high impedance and low on the back of it. Neither connection worked well so I just took the element out of the Motorola holder for the MIC and used the behind the grille. the wires back there in the ceiling for the mic are bluish grey for ground and dark red for + I believe. Find the other end in the On star bundle that is now disconnected and solder the yellow to the red and the bluish grey to black.
I would check them out with an ohm meter to be sure the color codes are as I describe them.
