I did that already, drilled it out and never replaced it because I installed a stabilizer bar across.
It's a Speedparts bar that I ordered from Elkparts when they were still around. Anyway, once you drill it out, you must zip tie the hood alarm sensor. Just squish it down and use a couple of zip ties to hold it down.
It's a clearance issue that's why I removed the metal box.
It's been many years since I did this and it's ( both, the bar and the zip ties holding the alarm) working out just dandy.
However, you could just screw it back in place and use some JB WELD for extra holding power or if the screw just won't fit right. Easy!
