Harbor Freight currently has a Chicago Electric chain saw for $44 - plus a 20% off coupon . The problem with the chipper is that it worked fine until I fed it some 1.25" limbs from a crab apple tree - and yes apple wood is considered a HW and it is pretty tough wood. The shock of the blade hitting the hardwood cracked the plastic casing.
A few months back though the Home Depot had a gas chain saw for $ 79 it think it was a 14" homelite. I might just pick up the Chicago Electric chain saw when I go back get my limb shredder replaced. Appreciate the info that it's a decent functioning chain saw.
Then there is my bypass looper that I bought from HF for all of $ 10 - the thin metal handle cracked when I put too much force into it so that now is secured by a 2" hose clamp - stainless steel made in USA which probably cost $ 2 so 1/5 of the by pass looper cost.
Gotta love HF and not set the bar very high with respect to durability. I've seen people in there just wandering through the aisles looking for some tool they don't already own.
The HF store is about 1.5 miles from my home.
